Drones are an invention that have revolutionized the way we do a lot of things, more than you can even imagine. From rescuing people to a toy for our kids, their multiple applications make them a valuable tool.
What are drones?
Drones, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are aircrafts controlled remotely using a controller or an app. They are usually equipped with regular cameras but, depending on its use, they can carry thermographic cameras too, namely in rescue and retrieve missions.
These vehicles were originally created for military purposes, but were soon released to the market after realizing their different applications.
Here are three uses of drones that you probably didn’t know about:
#1. Delivery
In countries like China, companies like SF Express are implementing this technology to deliver over a thousand daily packages. This kind of service is not yet available in most countries, including Mexico.
#2. Forest fire control
Fires can quickly get out of control, specially forest fires. We see every day more often drones being used to drop water and other chemicals over forest fires to mitigate their intensity and put them down, successfully reaching places that firemen couldn’t.
#3. As satellites
Currently thousands of satellites floating around Earth in space provide us television and internet networks. Most likely you are reading this right know thanks to one of them, but there are areas where signal is not available.
Tests are being carried out to use solar energy-fueled drones as satellites in remote areas to provide internet connection.
