THE IMPORTANCE OF INFRARED CALIBRATION

THE IMPORTANCE OF INFRARED CALIBRATION

If I told you that you can measure the temperature of an object without touching it, it may sound unreal. However, infrared thermometers are very real and they are used exactly for this purpose. We can do it too using thermographic cameras.

These products are often seen being used in companies, to detect malfunctions in electrical systems or faults in a building’s structure. As any device, they need maintenance but why is it so important?

What is calibration?

Calibration is the action of comparing parameters between the object that’s going to be calibrated and one that is known to have no errors. The factors that determine a good calibration are:

  • Precision in measurements
  • Accuracy in patterns
  • Validity of calibration

The importance of infrared calibration

Imagine that one of your devices is not calibrated and it has an error margin of 50ºC. This could lead to a fault or mistake going undetected and cause an undesired event. It is really important that infrared devices are as accurate as possible when measuring an object to prevent malfunctioning.

At Kapter, we are aware of the importance of infrared calibration. We offer calibration services to guarantee the best results in your measurements.
